School Climate Transformation Grants

for Local Education Agencies

We are writing to share a funding opportunity for local education agencies. The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) is seeking applications for fiscal year 2019 for the School Climate Transformation Grant Program—Local Educational Agency Grants (SCTG-LEA). Applications are due by July 22, 2019.

VIEW APPLICATION


The SCTG-LEA provides competitive grants to local educational agencies (LEAs) to develop, enhance, or expand systems of support for, and technical assistance to, schools implementing a multi-tiered system of support, for improving school climate. The DOE is prioritizing support to rural LEAs and applications that include projects designed to:
  • Protect freedom of speech and encourage respectful interactions in a safe educational environment
  • Promote strong relationships among students and school personnel to help prevent bullying, violence, and disruptive actions
  • Foster knowledge and promote the development of skills that prepare students to be informed, thoughtful, and productive individuals and citizens
  • Improve student academic performance and better prepare students for employment, responsible citizenship, and fulfilling lives
  • Help students develop determination, perseverance, self-esteem, problem-solving skills, self-regulation, etc.
  • Address opioid abuse prevention and mitigation strategies

Course to College

High School Counselors - Please see this message from Jamie Covell at Iowa College Aid -

Before you head out for the summer please get your school registered for Course to College. In order to receive materials for your school please register by July 19th.

Course to College is a program for high schools to implement in their buildings that addresses the steps to get to college - preparing, applying, financing, deciding and going. Our website explains the levels of involvement that your school can choose to participate.
