Knudson Scholarship Application!

Paul Knudson Scholarship
Paul R. Knudsen was born October, 23, 1962.  He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines, Iowa,

graduating from Hoover High School in 1981. He went on to become a trim carpenter in the Des

Moines area where he developed his own business, Knudsen Construction.  Paul was a dedicated

member and one of the founders of the VFW Men's Auxiliary at Post #9127 in Beaverdale. He

was President of the Auxiliary and a member of the Honor Guard. Paul was a constant figure at

Friday night dinners, Sunday morning brunch, Monday night football, and Beaverdale Fall

Festival, supporting the VFW with his work.  Paul passed away November 17, 2014, however

his selflessness and support of family and friends will live on.  As a tribute to Paul, a scholarship

fund was created to honor his unwavering support of his fellow veterans and serve as a reminder

of his love and generosity to his many friends at VFW Post#9127 and the recipients of his

scholarship.

Recipient of the Paul R. Knudsen scholarship must meet the following criteria:

 Be a veteran or dependent of a veteran with a disability incurred as a result of active duty

service.

 Enrolled or planning to enroll in a U.S. accredited college or university, or a school

accredited by the council for higher education

 Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

 Attended a high school in Warren County, Dallas County, or Polk County, Iowa

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must complete the application form, provide an

essay, and submit a copy of the veteran’s DD214.  The scholarship can be applied for tuition and

books and will be made payable to the recipient and school, college or university.  Scholarship

award amount is $1,500.00. Applications will be accepted through April 1, 2016. For application, see the link above.
