Please be aware of this career assessment and planning tool. It is not on the approved list from the Dept of Education for the Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP), however, I did want to pass this on...

I wanted to pass on additional information on our career assessment and planning tool called Future Plans ®, which was created by the Pinellas Education Foundation.

Future Plans® is a self-administered self-awareness and career exploration program designed to help students discover and understand their aptitudes and abilities, interests, and work preferences. The program also helps students align their skills with educational pathways to in-demand and globally competitive careers.  Comprehensively, Future Plans® has four major objectives: 

•    Students choose postsecondary educational pathways that match aptitudes, values, and interests for in-demand sectors;
•    Students leave high school with an informed and individualized educational plan;
•    School counselors use information from the individualized career plan to better assist students and parents on high school course requirements and career planning;
•    Parents/guardians become more involved and informed about educational and career pathways for their children.

Finally, I wanted to share with you that Future Plans USA has received national recognition from the White House and the U.S. Department of Education as a finalist in the Reach Higher Career App Challenge!  Check out the details below.

The First Lady Michelle Obama announced the Challenge, calling on developers, educators, career counselors, and business leaders to help students plan for the future. The finalists were recommended by a panel of judges with expertise in career counseling, workforce development, CTE, educational technology, and business scaling. Each finalist will receive $25,000 and proceed to the Virtual Accelerator phase of the competition to refine their concepts and prepare for Demo Day this summer.
