Updates on Career and Academic Plan

Here is the latest on the Career and Academic Plan (formerly 8th grade Core Curriculum Plan) Iowa Code 279.61 as revised by HF 2392:

The career standards team recommendations and Iowa code are currently being used to develop the administrative rules. Below please find the timeline (although Amy describes it as a moving target) for next steps.

Attached you will find the report from the career standards team and their recommendations to be drafted into administrative rule.

June	CIS vendor application process developed
June	State board convenes to review HF 2392 amendment to Iowa Code 279.61
June	CIS vendor applications posted to IDOE web site
June	Career Standards sub-group invited to review CIS vendor applications (July and August)
June	Career Standards sub-group invited to be part of the RFI (Request for Information) process for vendors to present CIS products and be named as the Iowa State-designated career information system.
June	On or around June 11, State board of education reviews and HF2392, Division I, which are effective upon enactment and school districts need to have implemented by the school year beginning July 1, 2016.
June	On or around June 15, HF2392 is effective upon enactment.
June	Iowa Department of Education releases vendor requirements and posts requirements to IDOE web site.
July	IDOE and sub-group begin review of CIS vendors to give conditional (six month to one year approval) to vendors for academic year 2017.
July	IDOE posts list of approved vendors on Department web site.
