Better Make Room Info

Up Next
With FAFSA registration starting on October 1st for the 2018-2019 school year, the Reach Higher team has a great tool for you and your students. Up Next is a FREE, evidence-based texting tool that offers personalized support on all things related to college access and completion--college search and application, federal student aid, even student loan repayment--all through texting. It's quick and easy to enroll and costs you and your students nothing. And we won't spam users with unnecessary messages or ads; we only share the most important reminders to keep students and parents on track to college.
  • Strongly encourage your high school seniors to enroll by having them text their FIRST and LAST NAME to this phone number: (240) 623-8319.
  • Strongly encourage your current college students to enroll by having them text their FIRST and LAST NAME to this phone number: (240) 623-2789.
Check out the impact this tool is already having on FAFSA completion, college enrollment and persistence in this graph below and HERE!

We are also having our Up Next Day of Action on September 12th (stay tuned for more information) and we’ll be sending our first substantive text messages about college applications on that day.

If you would like additional information about Up Next, please click HERE. If you have additional questions, please email Don Yu, the Director of Better Make Room, at: don@civicnation.org.

Back to School message from Mrs. Obama
Mrs. Obama is ready to welcome you and your students back to school and has prepared a special message that will be released early next week! Once we share it with you, we’d ask that you help us spread the love by sharing it with your students, and encouraging them to post responses along with what they plan to do to “Reach Higher” this school year on social media. Tag @ReachHigher or @BetterMakeRoom and use #BetterMakeRoom in your post. You never know who’ll end up retweeting you! 😉  Stay tuned for more details next week.
